Itinerary
Sunday, 10 June – USA Departure
Depart on overnight flight to Prague
Monday, 11 June – The Golden City of Prague
Morning arrival in Prague, to be met and assisted by your ITC
representative. See the Hradchany (Prague) Castle, beautiful
St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Palace and Golden Lane of Franz
Kafka fame. Proceed to the Charles Bridge and the Old Town
Square with its medieval City Hall Tower and astronomical
clock. Hotel check-in and rest. Welcome dinner at a vegetarian
restaurant.
Overnight: President Hotel, Prague
Tuesday, 12 June – Prague’s Jewish Heritage
After a briefing about Prague’s Jewish community, spend the
morning in Prague’s Jewish Quarter seeing the many Judaica
artifacts, saved from Nazi plunder, that are housed in the
synagogues that make up the Jewish Museum: Althneushul,
Maisel, Pinkas, Klaus, and Spanish synagogues. Walk through
the unique Old Jewish Cemetery. Free time for shopping and
dinner at leisure. Evening: Enjoy a performance of Prague’s
unique Black Theatre.

Wednesday, 13 June – Terezin
Depart Prague for Lidice,
the Czech town destroyed by Hitler, and visit the extraordinary
new multi-media museum and children’s monument
Travel to Terezin to visit what the Nazis called the “Model
Concentration Camp”. Tour the fortress and the recently discovered
Holocaust era secret synagogue of the Danish Jews •
Farewell dinner at the home of the president of Prague’s
Masorti Congregation, to be joined by a few other synagogue
members. Depart for the Airport for overnight flight to Israel
Thursday, 14 June – When You Come Into the Land
Very early arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, to be met and
assisted by your ITC representative. Ascent to Jerusalem for
early check-in and rest at the Leonardo Plaza Hotel
Meet up with the remainder of the group, arriving from
Charlotte. End of pre-tour
TOUR IN ISRAEL Wednesday, 13 June – USA Departure
Thursday, 14 June – When You Come Into the Land (Deut.
26:1) Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, to be met and assisted
by your ITC representative. Our tour begins at the Latrun
IDF Armored Corps center, review (or climb on) the tanks and
learn about battles fought there for the road to Jerusalem
Ascent to Jerusalem. Gaze upon the Old City of Jerusalem
from the Haas Promenade, standing where Abraham stood at
the dawn of Jewish history; take in the breathtaking view
Welcome dinner at the hotel
Overnight: Leonardo Plaza Hotel, Jerusalem
Friday, 15 June – Those Who Sacrificed
Take in a truly enjoyable multi-media presentation about the
life of the Father of Modern Zionism at the newly opened
Herzl Museum. Visit the newly-opened state-of-the art
Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Children’s Memorial at
Yad Vashem (age 12 and up only); alternative, interactive tour
available for younger children on site. Walk through colorful,
bustling Machane Yehuda Market as Jerusalem prepares for
Shabbat – am yisrael chai!. Return to the hotel to swim, prepare
for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat at the Fuchsburg Center
for Conservative Judaism. Festive Shabbat dinner at the hotel
or at the Fuchsberg Center

Shabbat, 16 June – Shabbat in Jerusalem - Parashat Shelah
Shabbat services at a synagogue of your choice (suggestions,

walking tour of a fascinating Jerusalem neighborhood

Sunday, 17 June – Freedom Fighters or Fanatics?
Optional: Very early departure by private van to Masada to
climb up the snake path (extra charge) Early departure to
ascend Masada by cable car; tour this impressive excavation
and discuss the terrible dilemma faced by its Jewish population
during Roman times. Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Ein
Gedi nature reserve and review the biblical story of kings
David and Saul that took place there “on site”. Stop for a dip
and mud baths at the amazing Dead Sea. Free evening in
Jerusalem. Evening option: Nighttime bicycle tour of Jerusalem
neighborhoods (not yet included in tour price)

Monday, 18 June – Bar/Bat Mitzvah in Jerusalem
Shaharit services at Robinson’s Arch (Bar/Bat mitzvah option
available) Explore the Southern Wall Excavations, including a
virtual, computerized “walk” through the Temple Mount at the
Davidson Center. In the Kotel Tunnels, walk underground
alongside the Western Wall’s massive foundation stones
Travel through many centuries in a guided tour of the Jewish
Quarter, including a tour of the excavated homes of ancient
Temple priests at the Herodian Mansions. Evening: Attend The
Night Spectacular, the fabulous new sound and light show at
the Tower of David Museum

Tuesday, 19 June – Foundations of the Modern State
At Independence Hall, relive Ben Gurion’s moving declaration of
the State. Enjoy an impressive presentation of the amazing
achievements of the Palmach at the new multi-media Palmach
Museum. Browse through unique craft items in Nachalat
Binyamin’s colorful, open-air market, and see modern Tel Aviv
in action. Hotel check-in. Free time for a Mediterranean swim
and/or shopping on modern Diezengoff Street or funky
Sheinken Street and the Carmel Market. Experience dinner at
Café Kappish, served by deaf waiters who will teach you sign
language during your meal followed by Na Laga’at, a unique
play performed by actors who are both deaf and blind

Wednesday, 20 June – Layers of History
I Rosh Hodesh Tammuz - Depart for Israel’s north
10:00 Walk through the fascinating, underground Roman water
system that once fed ancient Caesaria at Alona Park near
Binyamina (strap-on water shoes, flashlight needed; small
towel optional) See ancient history come to life at the multimedia
center against the backdrop of ancient Casesaria.
Excavations include an impressive amphitheatre and aqueduct
Proceed to the Galilee Region. Tour the synagogues, courtyards,
and shops of the mystical city of Tzefat

Overnight: Kibbutz Lavi Hotel
Thursday, 21 June – The Golan Heights
II Rosh Hodesh Tammuz. Take a lovely hike through the lush
forests and streams of the Tel Dan Nature Reserve
Travel to the Golan Heights and gaze down over the Galilee as
the Syrians once did. Glide down the Jordan River in a kayak
(age 6 and up only) Return to the hotel for final packing,
freshening up. Enjoy a delicious lakeside farewell dinner at
Decks Restaurant (steak) Depart for the airport
Friday, 22 June – A Temporary Departure
